TOTO has been making sanitary ceramics since 1917, in Kokura, in the north of Kyushu island, and launched the Washlet G in 1980. The company gave the washing seat its common name, washlet being a trademark it registered. The references gathered here are the ones we carry, and they can be tried in the shop.
Washlet and Neorest: what the two names cover
Washlet is the name of the company's range of washing seats, Neorest its most fully equipped collection. The difference shows first in the way products are referenced: a pack pairs a pan and a seat, each designated by its letter, RP and RX for instance, whereas the Neorest WX is referenced as one unit, pan and washing seat under a single reference. That unit comes in two versions, the WX1 and the WX2, the latter adding disinfection and cleaning by UV light.
The product sheets use the same proper names from one reference to the next. CEFIONTEC names the ceramic glaze, TORNADO FLUSH the cyclonic flush, PREMIST the misting that precedes use, EWATER+ the rinsing water treated by electrolysis, AUTOFLUSH the automatic flush. Wall-hung or floor-standing, and the dimension that decides
A wall-hung pan frees the floor and is cleaned without working around a pedestal, but it calls for a support frame and a boxed-in wall. A floor-standing pan installs without anything set into the wall and remains the most direct route when replacing an existing toilet. Washing comfort does not depend on the layout: it depends on the model chosen.
The sheets publish the length of each ceramic: 54 cm for the GP pan, 58 cm for the RP and SP, 67 cm for the Neorest WX, 71 cm for the floor-standing NC pack. These dimensions cannot be compared from a single plane, since a wall-hung pan is measured from the face of the boxed-in wall, which itself stands proud of the wall behind. What a pack brings together, and what to plan alongside
On wall-hung packs, the letter of the seat goes with the ceramic: RX and RW with an RP pan, SX and SW with an SP, RG and RG Lite with a GP. That is what these packs are for. The Lite version is defined by the two functions it leaves out, odour purification and PREMIST. Every pack also carries the rimless pan and descaling mode entries among its listed features.
A washing seat needs a cold water supply and a power supply within reach of the appliance, and the Neorest WX additionally calls for a TOTO frame with a motorised flush.
